2+ weeks old already

Poor kid. Only 2 weeks old and I'm already slacked on posting. Sorry Noah! But after initially bringing him home, he doesn't change too much. He's definitely packing on weight as can be seen in his cheeks. But mostly just sleeping and eating. Ben is definitely warming up to him though. He's always concerned when he hears him cry and runs over to offer him a matchbox car or pacifier. Fortunately, no jealousy and Ben has been great all those times that either Joanna or I need to leave him alone for a few minutes to go change a diaper. Latest pics:

Ben is also always willing to give his little brother a hug and kiss too. Adorable as always! (The rest of the video is Ben just ignoring me. Guess I should get used to that.)

Bu bi pacifier

Cruising right along. We'd been trying to convince Ben for a while now that once the baby came, that he'd have to give his pacifier to him, but one week in and no luck. Then Friday, Ben woke up from his nap and decided it was time. So we marched over to Noah's crib (while he was sleeping in it) and big brother Ben proudly dropped it in and hasn't looked back. Mommy and daddy were very proud. Ben is really great with Noah now. He sits down on his own with the boppy (the pillow in the picture) and asks to hold Noah and this morning he fed Noah from his pretend bowl of oatmeal.

And of course, the latest pictures.

Growing like a weed!

Noah just keeps growing and growing! His weight so far:
Day 1: 7 lbs 9oz
Day 3: 7 lbs 4.5 oz
Day 5: 7 lbs 10.5 oz
Day 7: 7 lbs 13 oz
Babies always dip below their birth weight shortly after birth, but he's a champion eater to have gotten above his birth weight so quickly and to already be so far over! He continues to do great sleeping and only woke up once last night. Mommy is very appreciative. His umbilical cord also just fell off yesterday after only 6 days. Ben's took about 3 weeks. Noah also makes some excellent efforts to lift his head up and to look around.

Ben continues to be great with Noah too. He's getting more and more comfortable with him and this morning helped Joanna burp him by patting his back.

Put him back!

Today, Ben asked Joanna to put Noah back in her tummy. Sorry kiddo! Ain't happening. Despite that comment, Ben is doing very well with him and is always giving Noah back his pacifier when he drops it and is asking about him, is touching his head, feet and arms and seems to enjoy sitting next to him. Fortunately, he also isn't getting scared when Noah cries.

Here are the latest pics. Finally, a bunch with his eyes open! They are still very dark so no telling what color they'll wind up.

Everyone else (Joanna) is doing well. Getting settled in nicely and with Noah sleeping well at night, it hasn't been all that bad.

First night

I'm happy to say that all went extremely well our first day and night at home. We had a few visitors and Ben has slowly been warming up to Noah. Joanna got up with Noah at night and I got up with Ben this morning. (fortunately, Ben is still sleeping after 8 am!) But Noah slept in ~2.5 hour intervals so it wasn't so bad.

Here are all the pictures from my mom's camera.

Introducing...

Please welcome to this world the newest member of the Eichenwald family, Noah Thomas! He decided to join us at 5:14 a.m. yesterday (8/15/08) after only 3 hours in the hospital and weighed in at 7 lbs 9oz and 20" long. And he already has more hair than daddy! (whats one more person?) Mommy and baby are doing great and recuperating in the hospital. Mommy was originally planning on not getting an epidural, but changed her mind half way through. However, because of how quickly the whole delivery progressed, by the time she made the decision it was too late to get it. But Joanna survived and is all the tougher for it. Congrats to her! (I never knew she knew all those 4 letter words though). Noah has already met his big brother and already asked to play with Ben's trucks. Ben didn't show much interest yet, but did pat his head a few times and seemed to tolerate him by the end of the visit. He was much more interested in playing with his cars, coloring, and eating munchkins though!

Check out pictures of the little guy. You can order pictures through Snapfish or Shutterfly directly from this album. Lots more news and pictures to come.

Almost there...

Just 9 days till Joanna is due! Here are some nice pictures of her (and a few of us together). Who needs a professional photographer? And here are a few nice shots of Ben too!
